This first of our western theme banjo's is called the "Colt"
and features engraved gold mother of pearl. We hand cut our
mother of pearl from the finest available blank stocks on the
market. Tedious shaping and polishing results in a beautiful
irridescent inlay that can be passed down and treasured for
generations. Also available are an optional wenge fingerboard
& peghead. Ebony or cocobolo are also available upon request.
A pre-war replica tonering, 3-ply maple rim, stainless steel two way
truss rod, stainless steel frets are all part of the standard package.
All other hardware is, of course, top quality as well. Finish work will
be handled by Master Finisher Don Hunter. Don has been finishing
instruments for companies like Gibson and Rich & Taylor for over
thirty years. I am proud to have known & worked with Don for the
last two years, there really is no one better in the business!
All work is are done by myself and my partner from the hand cut pearl
inlay to the final assembly ant testing. We cut our own fingerboards
and neck blanks from the billet material of your choice. Final
production models will have CNC cut pearl or optional hand cut, as well
as the customers choice of most every other detail of their banjo!
The "Gun smoke" grey finish is just one of several available.
Steer skull, pistols, and other western art adorn the handmade neck in
genuine mother-of-pearl. The custom made "crossed pistols" tuner
buttons compliment the old west theme, and were made for us by Ron
Barnes of Virginia.
